Kindergarten

Sing the Spanish alphabet song but consult the teacher before introducing the alphabet poster.  Some teachers feel this may confuse the children who are still learning the English alphabet.

The core material for this age group is limited and therefore easy to review during every class.  Reading books is a wonderful way of presenting challenge material to the class as a whole.  There are a variety of books that incorporate the numbers, colors, and new vocabulary in our Spanish room.

When working on activities, consider playing the Risas y Sonrisas CD in the background so they have more exposure to the songs and pick up the accent.  You may want to encourage them to sing along in their quiet voice.

For consistency within the grade level and for the following year, it is important that each class within the grade level follow this curriculum.  The Spanish room worksheets, books, “toys”, Risas y Sonrisas materials (notebooks, CDs, posters, cubby activities), and plans on the LPE Spanish website are resources available to all of us to help accomplish these goals.

We’d like to focus on the following material:

Key Enrichment material (to take them further throughout school year):

Key Phrases (utilize regularly throughout school year):

Additional Enrichment Material (THESE TOPICS ARE NOT COVERED IN OUR REGULAR CURRICULUM, SO USE THEM AS YOU LIKE FOR FURTHER STUDY):

Challenge Material (ESPECIALLY FOR BILINGUAL OR ADVANCED CHILDREN WHO NEED SOMETHING SPECIAL):
