First Grade

Sing the Spanish alphabet song at every class using the alphabet poster.  Review the core material already introduced during every class.  Have each student learn how to spell his/her name out loud using the Spanish letter’s pronunciation.

When working on activities, consider playing the Risas y Sonrisas CD in the background so they have more exposure to the songs and pick up the accent.  You may want to encourage them to sing along in their quiet voice.

For consistency within the grade level and for the following year, it is important that each class within the grade level follow this curriculum.  The Spanish room worksheets, books, “toys”, Risas y Sonrisas materials (notebooks, CDs, posters, cubby activities), and plans on the LPE Spanish website are resources available to all of us to help accomplish these goals.
