Spanish Class Information Site

Welcome to the LPE Spanish program parent information site! We developed this site in an effort to keep you better informed of what we will be covering in Spanish class on a grade-level basis and to provide you with reference material and activities that you can use at home. Follow the link corresponding to your child's grade to learn more about what he or she will be taught in Spanish class this year.

How You Can Help

Our class time is limited and any reinforcement you can provide at home would be beneficial. You could simply ask your child what he or she is learning in Spanish each week. That alone would encourage your child to think about and use his or her new Spanish skills. It could help cement the material in your child's mind. If you would like to challenge your child further, you could "quiz" him or her using the reference material we provide on this site as a guide or just let your little one learn by playing the referenced games. As you see that your child masters something, encourage him or her to show it off in class. We love when a child shares with us what he or she has learned!

Spanish Reference Materials and Sites

The following is a two page reference sheet in Word format that could be printed out as a home reference: Student Reference Page 1 and Student Reference Page 2. For an html version that you can view online, follow these links: Student Reference (html) Page 1 and Student Reference (html) Page 2. Please note that the formatting is slightly different in the html version.

There are several online reference sites that could be useful in reinforcing what is being taught in the classroom. The following are examples of sites with audio files so you can hear the pronunciation of the letters, numbers, colors, and other vocabulary: Spanish for Kids from www.123teachme.com and a resource in which many of the games referenced on this site were found called Spanish Flashcards at www.spanishspanish.com. The following is a reference to a useful online dictionary: www.wordreference.com.
