Board Meeting Minutes

November 8, 2011- 9:30 a.m.-LPE Conference Room

 

Present: Tiffany Todd, Andra Wheeler, Darla Bilderback, Tracie Garvens, Deborah West, Maria Stewart, Mary Pakarinen, Kim Yancey, Amy Shoemake, Heidi Gudelman, Mary Linton, Amy Dolce, Dinah Laughery, Shaeli Walton, Alana Kirkpatrick, Laura Novy, and Natalie Fisher

 

1.    Meeting called to order at 9:36 a.m. by Tiffany Todd, Lake Pointe Elementary PTO, Inc. President.

 

2.    Motion to approve the minutes from the October 25, 2011 LPE PTO, Inc. Board Meeting.  Motion made by Tracie Garvens.  Motion seconded by Dinah Laughery.  Motion passed.

 

3.    Faculty Reps: Amy Shoemake- Thank you for all your hard work.  We are looking forward to McTeacher Night.  Some teachers will attend.

 

4.    Finance Report: Mary Pakarinen – P&L cash balance as of November 4, 2011 is $74,163.86.  Carnival income is included in this P&L.  Great job on Carnival!  Carnival revenue: $42,451.46, ticket sales brought in $12,474, silent auction brought in $7,464, and the Jack Ingram Concert brought $12,805 in proceeds.  Some concession proceeds will come in from vendors. Expenses include$11,000 from Carnival and $3800 from the concert.  Expenses under instructional include 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Motivational Math and Kinder and Computer Lab Smart Boards.  Also, Form 990 for the old PTO organization was filed and we paid for an outside CPA to prepare it.

 

Motion to accept the P&L - July 1, 2010 through November 4, 2011 as presented.  Motion made by Mary Pakarinen.  Motion seconded by Natalie Fisher.  Motion passed.

 

Funding Approval Update- No new Funding Approvals.

 

5.     Fundraising: Maria Stewart and Deborah West-All Box Tops have been counted.  Ms. Kordes class brought in the most- 701 Box Tops.  LPE earned $880 total from collected Box Tops.  McTeacher Spirit Night at McDonald’s is tonight.  The Point of Origin Spirit Week update- We are looking into 10 days right after Thanksgiving since Point of Origin has two stores and one is a Christmas store.  We have a Pavers Chair- Renee Nelms.  The Paver company quoted  “8-16 weeks” turn around time for the pavers.  We hope to send out order forms for the pavers in the first Tuesday folder in January 2012.

 

6.    Volunteers: Shaeli Walton- Track and Field Day is next Tuesday. Ms. Wallace would like 14 volunteers.  We still need some volunteers.  Flyers will go out in Tuesday folders today. 

 

7.    Programs: Kim Yancey- Science Fair judging is on Thursday and students view Science Fair on Friday.  Kelly Turner will Chair Career Day.  There will be some changes for Career Day this year.  We are looking into having more to see out in front of LPE, but the Career Day volunteers out front won’t speak in the classrooms too. 

 

8.    Staff Appreciation: Tracie Garvens and Laura Novy- Our next event is “Shop the Market” on November 14th.

 

9.    Principal: Heidi Gudelman- Book Fair is going on this week.  Spirit Night at McDonald’s tonight.  We are selling tickets to the Thursday football game.  Science Fair is also on Thursday.  Next Wednesday, November 16th is Thanksgiving lunch at LPE.  The Kinder play is on November 18th.  The Staff Development meeting for kinder through 5th went very well.   The character assembly, Ned Yo Yo is on November 17th.  There will be two assemblies- one at 8 am and the second assembly at 9am.  In January we will have a STAAR Presentation to answer questions about the STAAR test.  That will be on January 9, 2012 at 6:30pm.
