BOARD MEETING MINUTES
LAKE POINTE ELEMENTARY PTO
MEETING HELD OCTOBER 27, 2009
1. Meeting called to order at 9:40 a.m.
2. Present: Amy Dolce, Rachelle Wilbanks, Babita Deitrich, Tiffany Todd, Raquel
Knox, Amy Domecq, Tracy Keever, Chelsea Watts, Mindy Baldwin, Amanda
Tennant, Amy Lippa, Amy Shoemake, Heidi Gudelman, Tami Strait, Julie
Gurley, Kristi Jordan
3. Motion to approve Minutes from the 10/13/09 Board Meeting. Motion seconded.
Motion approved.
4. Faculty Rep: Mrs. Shoemake – Thanked everyone for the luncheon. Carnival was
so much fun and her students couldn’t stop talking about it this a.m.!
5. Finance: Babita – P & L: Cash Balance is $77,796.00 as of 10/26/09. Changes to
income include $695.00 membership, $15,771 Carnival, $36.00 Interest Income,
$693.00 School Store, $3700.00 T-Shirt orders. Paid out: $200.00 Instructional
(colored pencils for art), $63.00 Spanish, $113.00 Outdoor Classroom, $87.00
Programs, $3300.00 Carnival, $121.00 Membership, and money that came in was
$21.00 for Treasurer/President. That is a total of $3800.00 in expenses.
6. Motion to approve P & L. Motion seconded. Motion approved.
7. Fundraising: Kristi – a HUGE thank you to everyone who worked on carnival!
Many thanks to Kerri Schneider, Jan Coburn, Rachelle Wilbanks, Andra Wheeler,
Janice Mattingly, Traci Smith, Tracy Garvens, and Kim Watson for chairing.
Thanks to Ms. Gudelman for showing up so early, 7:30 a.m., with a GREAT
attitude! Thanks to all parents! Class booths were awesome and thanks for all the
baked goods! Our net profit was about $13,000. We brought in almost $5,000 in
sponsorships in cash donations. Thanks to the 30 business and families who
sponsored the carnival. Please support these businesses that work so hard to help
our school! Thanks to the in kind donations from Sam’s Club, Hey Cupcake, A
Trip to Bountiful, McDonald’s, Kucera Company, Kids R Kids. Thanks to the
Mainstage participants and to Babita, Andra, and Rachelle for collecting money.
Broadway Bank has offered to donate Hot Dogs and Popcorn if we decide to do a
Spring Bash.
School Spirit shirts have been delayed just a little bit. Should arrive soon.
8. Membership: Julie and Rachelle - 10 more families have joined PTO.
9. Programs: Amanda – Art Show is coming up on November 12th. An e-mail will
go out soon for volunteers.
10. Staff Appreciation: Raquel and Amy – Dr. Seuss luncheon went well. November
18th will be Shop the Market. Will be requesting non-refrigerated pies.
Door Décor- Cookie Jar “theme”. Each door will have a big cookie jar and each
child will be sent home with a cookie template to decorate however they want.
Doors need to be wrapped by November 20th, decorated by December 4th, and
taken down by January 14th.
11. Volunteers: Vision/Hearing needs 2 more volunteers today.
P.E. Stations will be the week of Nov. 2nd – 5th. Still need some volunteers, especially Kindergarten. Room moms please send out an e-mail request for volunteers. Don’t forget to log hours!
12. Communications: Chelsea – Newsletter is about to come out.
13. Principal: Heidi – Some of the kids planted bluebonnet seeds last week around the
perimeter of the school. Some plants around the retention pond have been cut
down because they died. We might want to replace those at some point. Trees
are doing well. Most survived the drought.
14. Presidents: Amy – Thanks for pitching in for the carnival and luncheons! We are
going to table discussion on the Lending Policy.
