BOARD MEETING MINUTES

LAKE POINTE ELEMENTARY PTO

MEETING HELD OCTOBER 13, 2009

 

  1. Meeting called to order at 9:35am.

 

  1. Present: Laurie Anderson; Amy Dolce; Babita Deitrich; Kristi Jordan; Amy Still; Tracy Miller; Tracy Keever; Mindy Baldwin; Page Ballard; Tami Strait; Wendi Aarons; Mary Carnes; Raquel Knox; Heidi Gudelman; Rachelle Wilbanks

 

  1. Correction made to audit: We are officially caught up.

 

  1. Motion to approve Board minutes for 9/29/09.  Seconded.  Approved.

 

  1. Treasurer: 

 

P&L: She has recorded income from Carnival and recorded income from school store.  We received $100 from Waterloo.  We issued check for Hot Air Balloon and paid for staff development for 2 teachers.  There were also PTO expenses for refreshments.  Our current cash balance is $60,637.  Motion made to approve the P&L.  Seconded.  Approved.

 

Funding requests: Spirit Wear orders = $3,700.  There will be a change made to Carnival plan of work.  There is a new policy being enforced where the District is charging fees.  A maintenance person is needed.  The total cost is $325 for maintenance people.  We hope to have the opportunity to make changes to this.  A security person is also required at $35/hr for 4 hours resulting in a total of $140.  Extensive discussion ensued over this issue.  Bee Cave Police is always on site, etc.  Heidi is going to see what she can do about this issue.  She said everyone is charged fees for school usage.  Also, regarding Carnival, the Booth prizes/supplies went over by $127.  The net change was $755.88.  Change to total Plan of Work was $6,155.88.  Also, there was a change in income resulting in $4,875.  We’ve already covered the cost of Carnival.  Everything else will be “gravy.”  Motion to approve funding request made.  Seconded.  Approved.

 

  1. Faculty Rep: Mrs. Carnes spoke.  A gentleman from UT might be coming to do some experiments and he makes ice cream out of liquid nitrogen.  They want him to come in on Fridays at assembly (once a month).  He doesn’t charge; it’s strictly voluntary.

 

  1. Fundraising: The school store made $375 in 3 days!  14 independent booths confirmed.  Ticket sales were $1,441.50 as of 10/09.  The stage performers are the Texas Arts, Fiddlers, with Kerrie Schneider to Emcee.  Pop Warner Cheer will be there.  Lake Travis Swim Team will run the Sno Cone booth.

 

  1. Membership:  Over 80% of classes have joined PTO.  That’s better than ever!  There will be a smoothie party for 2 Kindergarten classes (Mims and Ching).  Johnny Hill will speak on Thursday at General Meeting to discuss Tax Ratification Election.

 

  1. Programs:  Career Day was great!  Thanks for everyone’s help!  Art Show is coming up November 12th.  Amy Dolce asked Programs to thank volunteers in next PTO Newsflash.

 

  1. A.C.:  Next week is the luncheon with a Dr. Seuss theme.

 

  1. Volunteers:  Tomorrow is Picture Day.  Vision and Hearing screening is Nov 27th through 30th.  Discussion ensued regarding Outdoor Classroom in terms of repairs done and improvements.  A lot of work done in this area.  P.E. stations will need volunteers from Nov 2nd through 4th.  Regarding Spanish program, it’s underway with 40 volunteers requiring about 30 minutes per week.

 

  1. Communications:  Make sure your spelling is correct when sending out your Newsflash.

 

  1. Grade Level Reps: Yearbook orders will come out today.  They will be $25.

 

  1. New Business: None.

 

  1. Principal:  Heidi said Career Day went well and thanked everyone.  The kids got to see all sorts of careers.  Everyone is looking forward to Carnival.  She said that 80% membership in PTO is wonderful!  Tami said thanks to everyone for all their help on everything going on!

 

  1. Presidents:  Johnny Hill speaking on Thursday on lending policy.  We tabled lending policy until next meeting.
